I know it's a Saturday, but this is too good to pass up. The Philippines' entry to the Argentinian Rojo Sangre Film Festival, Sa Ilalim ng Cogon, bagged the best picture prize.
It's the coolest news ever, isn't it, considering that that same movie was disqualified from CineManila for, ahem, not fulfilling the criteria. Wagging tongues have said that it's because Yul Servo would be in two films that are in the running for CineManila awards. Since they had to pick, they opted for Ilusyon which was produced by a big film company as opposed to the independent and digital Sa Ilalim ng Cogon. But shh... enough of insider gossip.
So. Maybe the film industry isn't that dead yet. At least we know there's some new blood burbling somewhere in there.
